Abstract

Christhumatha Nirupanam (CNM) is a pioneering work designed to make discussions about the Bible more accessible by overcoming the religious and linguistic barriers present in India during a period of widespread conversions. In his earlier book, Christhumatha Saram (CSM), Chattampi Swamikal explained Christian doctrines in a clear and simple manner. However, in CNM , he adopts a rational and empirical perspective to analyze biblical texts, including later additions and interpretations. He encourages readers to critically evaluate religious scriptures and missionary teachings rather than accepting them without question. This work highlights Swamikal's commitment to intellectual exploration, challenging rigid doctrinal views and promoting open discussions. By drawing comparisons between Christian beliefs and other philosophical and spiritual traditions, he underscores universal truths and fosters a deeper understanding of religious ideas. The book serves as a valuable guide for adopting a reasoned and thoughtful approach to spirituality.

Author Biography

  • Richard Hay, Former Member of Indian Parliament.
    Prof. Richard Hay, son of R. W. M. Hay from Perth, Scotland, is a postgraduate from the University of Calicut. He has served as a Professor and Principal in government colleges in Kerala, as well as in Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, and Abu Dhabi. He was also an expert for India’s National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), evaluating colleges and universities. Beyond academics, he has held leadership roles, serving as Governor of Lions Clubs International, State President of Junior Chamber International, Charter Chairman of Special Olympics International, and Chairman of the Malabar Heritage Society. He was also a participant in the Rotary International Group Study Exchange Team in California. In politics, he was a Member of Parliament in the Sixteenth Lok Sabha and served on the Parliamentary Standing Committees for Public Accounts, External Affairs, and Agriculture, as well as the Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Railways. He travelled across India to study the living conditions of Anglo-Indians and explored the socio-economic conditions of the Northeastern states. He also represented India at the International Parliamentarians’ Meet in Kazakhstan. A prolific writer, he has authored three books and published numerous articles in leading newspapers.
